Anne's Creamy Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients

5 lbs. potatoes
2 tsp. salt
2 (3 oz.) pkgs. cream cheese with chives
4 tbsp. butter
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 c. heavy whipping cream
2 tbsp. butter (for topping)
Paprika

Directions

Cook potatoes with one teaspoon of the salt in boiling water until tender.
Mash potatoes until smooth. Add cream cheese, 4 tablespoons of butter, garlic powder, pepper and the remaining teaspoon of salt. Mix until smooth.
Gradually add heavy cream, mixing until smooth after each addition.
Turn the potato mixture into a greased 13"x9"x2" (3 quart) baking dish. Bake at once or cover with foil and refrigerate overnight.
Dot potatoes with remaining tablespoons of butter and sprinkle with paprika. Bake in 325 degree oven for 30 minutes. Increase heat to 375 degrees and bake 30 minutes more or until hot. Serves 6 to 8.
COMMENT: This dish stays very hot and is a rich, excellent recipe for a buffet dinner. You won't believe how people will eat this dish
